On World Health Day, 7 April 2021, WHO is inviting the world in their new campaign to build a fairer and a healthier world.
Our world is not a fair one especially during the late COVID-19 pandemic.
As COVID-19 has started for more than a year ago, minority of people are having the ability to lead healthier lives and have better access to health services than others. The particular reason behind this circumstance is that they have better jobs and better lifestyles than the others. This class distinction has led to unfair world.
All over the world, some groups struggle to have healthier lives with a tight budget. Having poverty- stricken conditions along with the poor education and insufficient employment opportunities have lead people to live in a lower life standard.
Women are strenuously experiencing greater gender discrimination. People are having little or no access to safe environments, clean water and air, food security and health services.
Consequently, this leads to unnecessary suffering, avoidable illness, and premature death. And it influences our economy and lives negatively.
That’s why WHO is calling on leaders worldwide to ensure that the vast majority has a better access to living properly, better education, a safe environment and a healthier lifestyle.
COVID-19 has hit all countries hard, but its impact has been harshest on those communities which were already vulnerable, who are more exposed to the disease, less likely to have access to quality health care services and more likely to experience negative consequences as a result of measures implemented to contain the pandemic.
In Egypt according to the ministry of health, there are total 207k cases and 13k deaths.
Therefore, we are encouraging you to adhere to the Precautionary measures which are:
- You must wear face masks. You can remove masks for eating, drinking, and sleeping, but stay 2 meters away from any individuals.
- Wash your hands often with soap and water for at least 20 seconds, especially upon arrival, or when using the bathroom and after you have been in a public place.
- Improve ventilation by opening windows and doors or by placing central air and heating on continuous circulation.
- Spend time with others outdoors.
- Avoid singing or shouting, especially indoors.
- If soap and water are not available, use a hand sanitizer that contains at least 60% alcohol. Cover all surfaces of your hands and rub them together until they feel dry.
- You must wear masks on planes, buses, trains, and other forms of public transportation.
- Wear your mask over your nose and mouth when in public settings. Masks and Face Shields are required on planes, buses, trains, and other forms of public transportation.
We are also encouraging you to register for the vaccine.
If you are eligible, get fully vaccinated against COVID-19 and wait one month after getting your second vaccine dose. There are millions of people in the world who are getting the vaccine. The minority are reporting some serious adverse effects.
