What are the contraindications to the use of Quitapex ?
Quetiapine is contraindicated in cases of hypersensitivity to it, and it is contraindicated in patients who suffer from any of the following health problems:
Hypersensitivity to any other component of the drug.
For the treatment of schizophrenia: start with a dose of 25 mg twice daily and gradually increase the dose to reach 50 mg 2-3 times during the day.
The maximum daily dose: 300-400 mg, but there are cases where it is necessary to increase the dose to 750 mg.
For bipolar treatment: start with 50 mg twice daily and gradually increase to 100-400 mg during the day.
Dosage is adjusted according to the doctor’s instructions and according to the body’s response to the treatment.
Dosage for the elderly: Start with a dose of 25 mg per day and gradually increase to 50 mg per day.
The lozenge is swallowed whole without breaking or chewing, and it can be taken with or without food.
Quetiapine can be used to treat manic episodes of bipolar 1 disorder in children 10 to 17 years of age.
Pregnancy and breast-feeding
