ACTIVE-INGREDIENT OF FLUCAMOX 500MG VIAL
each 500 mg vial contains : active ingredient : flucloxacillin sodium 272.00 mg ( equivalent to 250 mg flucloxacillin ) . Amoxycillin sodium 265.00 mg ( equivalent to 500 mg Amoxycillin ).
INDICATION OF FLUCAMOX 500MG VIAL
for the targeted treatment of acute and chronic community-acquired infections that are caused by such mixed infections whose pathogens can not be treated either by amoxicillin alone or by flucloxacillin . Under these conditions , the following infections can be treated : infections in the ear , nose and throat , such as : – inflammation of the pharynx ( pharyngitis ) . – sinus infections ( sinusitis ) . middle ear infection ( otitis media ) . infections of skin and soft tissue : nationally agents should be taken into account when using flucamox .
DOSAGE OF FLUCAMOX 500MG VIAL

The recommended dose is : –
the dosage depends on the severity and nature of the infection . Routes of administration : – powder for solution for injection or infusion : by slow intravenous injection or intravenous infusion into the drip tube ( over three to four minutes ) . – dosage : – capsules : doses for adults : 500 mg every 8 hours . dose can be increased to 1 or 2 mg in severe infections . doses may be doubled for severe infections . powder for solution for injection/ infusion : the solutions must be prepared as follows : slow intravenous injection or infusion dissolve 500 mg vial contents in 5-10 ml of water fpor injections , or dissolve 1 g vial contents in 15 to 20 ml of water for injections . flucloxacillin may also be added to most infusion fluids or injected ( suitably diluted ) into the drip tube , e.g of these fluids : water for injections , sodium chloride 0.9 % , glucose 5% , sodium chloride 0.18 % with glucose 4% ) . doses for adults : I.M. injection : 500 mg every 6 hours . – I.V. injection : 500 mg every 6 hours can be increased to 1 or 2 gm in severe infections . doses for children : for I.V. injection or infusion : neonates under 7 to 21 days of age : 3 times daily . 21 to 28 days of age : 4 times daily . 1 month of age : 25 – 50 mg/kg every 6 hours . doses may be doubled for severe infections . – for I.M. injection : 25-50 mg / kg every 6 hours . doses may be doubled for severe infections .
OVER-DOSAGE OF FLUCAMOX 500MG VIAL
toxicity and treatment of overdosage . A) symptoms of intoxlcation . Flucloxacillin : at very high doses , gastrointestinal symptoms such as nausea and vomiting , or possibly a diarrhea , and central nervous disorders may occure . Other signs of overdose are not known , amoxicillin the symptoms of overdiose are substantially the same side effect profile . in particular , gastrointestinal and central nervous system symptoms and oliguria , renal failure may occure . b) treatment of intoxicationsln case of overdose . there is no specific antidote available . treatment cosists of discontinuation of the drug : possibly gastric lavage and symptomatic treatment are required . flucloxacillin is not dialyzable . during hemodialysis , the half – life remains practically unchanged . amoxicillin can be removed by hemodialysis . c) shock treatment in case of shock reaction , the medication should be discontinued immmediately and the necessary emergancy measures such as epinephrine , antihistamines and corticosteroids should be initiated according to current treatment guidelines by a physician .
CONTRA-INDICATION OF FLUCAMOX 500MG VIAL
hypersensitivity to amoxicillin , flucloxacillin , other penicillins or any of the excipients of flucamox , the drug should not be used because of the risk of anaphylactic shock . Cross – sensitivity with other beta-lactam antibiotics ( e.g. cephalosporins ) occurs frequently . flucloxacillin may not be used in patients with hepatic impairment / jaundice have occured under a previous flucloxacillin therapy , and should be used with caution in patients with existing liver dysfunction . use in infants , toddlers , and children under 6 years so that the physician must carefully weight the possible risk and benefits before administering flucamox .
