Elocon is cortisone-based preparation, which is manufactured from a hormone, cortisol, for use on the skin. It belons to the class of potent corticosteroids. Elocon cream and Elocon ointment are indicated for the topical treatment of certain skin inflammations that respond favourably such as psoriasis, atopic dermatitis, irritant dermatitis and/or allergic contact dermatitis.

DOSAGE OF ELOCON OINTMENT

Follow all directions given to you by your pharmacist or doctor carefully . They may differ from the information contained in this leaflet

Ask your pharmacist or doctor for help if you do not understand the instructions on the box .

The recommended dose is : –

Dermal route. External use. Apply a thin layer of Elocon cream or Elocon ointment on the area of skin to be treated once a day. Massage gently until the cream or ointment is completely absorbed. Wash your hands after applying Elocon. Unless otherwise specified by your doctor: Avoid stopping long-term treatment abruptly; Do not give your medicine to another person; Do not use the medicine for indications other than those prescribed.

OVER-DOSAGE OF ELOCON OINTMENT

If you use too much Elocon, contact your doctor, pharmacist. To date, no cases of overdose with Elocon have been reported, However, see your doctor immediately in the event of an overdose, accidental ingestion or absorption through the mouth.

CONTRA-INDICATION OF ELOCON OINTMENT

Do not use Elocon: If you have ever had an unusual reaction or a severe allergic reaction to mometasone furoate, other corticosteroids or any ingredient of Elocon. If you have acne vulgaries, acne rosacea, thinning of the skin, inflammation around the mouth, post-vaccination reactions, in case of anal or genital itching, nappy erythema, chickenpox, herpes and more generally, infected dermatitis. Consult your doctor to ensure that you do not have any of these conditions. Elocon should not be applied on ulcerated skin.

STORAGE OF ELOCON OINTMENT

Keep out of the sight and reach of children. Store between 2 °C to 30 °C. Do not use ELOCON after the expiry date stated on the carton and on the metal tube after (EXP). The expiry date refers to the last day of the month.
