What is the difference between colds and flu?
You can prevent getting the flu by washing your hands frequently. Avoid contact with infected people. And if you feel unwell, you can stay at home away from work, school, or social gatherings.54
In most cases, people with influenza recover within five to seven days; By getting enough rest and drinking plenty of fluids. Prescription flu medications can also help relieve symptoms.
Always consult your doctor if you suspect you have the flu, especially for people at risk, such as the elderly, young children, or those with weak immune systems.
The term “influenza” is often used to refer to a number of illnesses, and it can sometimes be confused with the common cold.51
Influenza is actually a respiratory illness caused by viruses that can lead to fevers, headaches, coughs, sore throats, and muscle aches. There are many types of viruses that may cause cases of influenza. Most attack the body’s respiratory system — the lungs and airways, including the throat and nose — causing standard flu symptoms: 51
